There’s a quiet, heavy feeling that creeps in sometimes—one that whispers, “You’re too much. You’re in the way.” It shows up when you want to ask for help but don’t. When you silence your needs to keep the peace. When you feel like your pain or presence might be too heavy for yourself to carry.
The truth: Feeling like a burden doesn’t mean I am one.
That feeling often comes from old wounds—moments when your needs were ignored or when your emotions were labeled as “too much.” Over time, I learn to dim myself, to shrink, to apologize for simply speaking. But healing begins when I notice that I have a voice and I challenge myself to keep going through pain.
Getting out of my own way means reminding myself that I don’t have to carry everything alone. It means trusting that I have real connections and can hold my truth without crumbling. That love—true love, whether from friends, family, or partner—isn’t earned by pretending you’re always okay.
I’m not asking for too much. I’m asking to be seen. And that’s human.
So if you’re feeling heavy today, let yourself take up space. Let yourself cry, speak, reach out, or rest. You’re not a burden. You’re a person learning to believe they belong.
And that’s something worth fighting for.
